Member Exclusive: A Live Premiere and Discussion of the New Strongest Town Contest Winner Video

Catch the live premiere of a video about Marion, Ohio, this year’s Strongest Town Contest winner. Then, join us for a live discussion with video creator Rachel Leonardo and Marion nominator James Walker.

LOCATION: YouTube and Zoom  |  DATE: September 19, 2025  |  TIME: 11 a.m. CDT

Can a struggling city save itself? Is revitalization really possible? Marion, Ohio, proves that it is. Join us on September 19 for the live premiere of “This Dying Rust Belt Town Quietly Saved Itself.” Filmed on site in Marion, this new video shows how a community can thrive after hardship by making housing and economic pursuits easier. The live discussion afterward will give you a behind-the-scenes look at how our videos are made, practical insights into what it takes to be a strong town — and pointers for applying to the contest yourself.

The video will premiere on YouTube at 11 a.m. CDT. Immediately after the premiere, join us on Zoom for a live, member-exclusive conversation with Rachel Leonardo, Strong Towns’ video creator, and James Walker, the Marion Regional Planning Commission staffer who nominated Marion for the Strongest Town Contest and helped shepherd the winning entry.

This event is for Strong Towns members — people who have donated to Strong Towns in the last 12 months. If you're not yet a member, you can become one by making a donation of whatever amount works for you.
